J-K Bank appointed lead bank convenor for UT of J-K; SBI gets Ladakh
The Reserve Bank on Thursday appointed Jammu & Kashmir Bank as the lead banker for the newly carved out union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. State Bank of India (SBI) will be the lead convenor bank for union territory of Ladakh. The government had reorganised the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, into union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with effect from October 31, 2019.

Free WiFi to all villages connected via Bharat Net till March 2020: Prasad
WiFi services being provided through BharatNet in villages across India will be free of charge till March 2020, Telecom and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said. Currently, 48,000 villages connected under the BharatNet project have WiFi access. The minister said all common service centres (CSCs) will offer banking services. As such, CSCs act as access points for delivery of digital services and the number of these centres has increased from about 60,000 in 2014 to 3.60 lakh currently.

IL&FS case: Sebi slaps Rs 25 lakh fine each on ICRA, CARE, India Ratings
Cracking the whip for their "lethargic indifference", watchdog Sebi on Thursday slapped a penalty of Rs 25 lakh each on ICRA, CARE, and India Ratings & Research in connection with lapses in assigning credit ratings to non-convertible debentures of IL&FS. The crisis at diversified IL&FS, whose board was superseded by the government, came to light in September last year and since then, the company as well as related entities have come under the regulatory lens.

GST officials unearth Rs 241 crore tax evasion through fake invoicing
GST officials have unearthed a racket involving fake invoicing worth Rs 1,600 crore that resulted in tax evasion of Rs 241 crore. The racket was busted by the anti-evasion wing of CGST Delhi South Commissionerate. The alleged racketeer had created several firms on the basis of unauthorised access to identity documents of various persons.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the highest-selling passenger vehicle in first eight months of FY20
Maruti Suzuki said in a recent press conference that its most compact sedan Maruti Suzuki Dzire has become the top-selling passenger vehicle in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2019-20. The automobile manufacturer sold more than 1.2 lakh units of the Dzire between April and November. The automobile giant also claims that Dzire has by far captured 60% of the market share and has sold more than 20 lakh units.

Air India refuses tickets to govt agencies that owe more than Rs 10 lakh to it
In what appears to be a first, debt-ridden airline Air India has refused to issue tickets for official travel of officials from government agencies that owe the airline more than Rs 10 lakh. As per reports, various government agencies owe Air India Rs 268 crore overall for ticket purchases. The airline has drawn up a list of defaulters that still owe dues to the airline.
