Bank frauds increased by 15% in FY19; amount defrauded spikes 73.8%: RBI Report

In the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) annual report 2019, the apex bank said that frauds reported by banks increased by 15 per cent on a year-on-year basis in 2018-19. The amount involved increased by a significant 73.8 per cent to Rs 52,200 crore - although most of this amount related to erstwhile occurrences. "The number of cases of frauds reported by banks increased by 15 per cent in 2018-19 on a year-on-year basis, with the amount involved rising by 73.8 per cent, though mostly related to occurrences in earlier years," the report mentioned.

Delhi cabinet approves free rides for women on DTC, cluster buses from October 29

The Delhi Cabinet has approved free rides for women on DTC buses as well as its cluster buses. Women will be able to commute on DTC buses for free from October 29, which is also Bhai Duj. The proposal was approved by the cabinet at the Delhi Secretariat yesterday. On August 26, Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia had presented a grant of Rs 290 crore for the free ride scheme for women in Delhi Metro and DTC buses at the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly.
