Govt plans to order Uber, Ola to convert 40% of their cars to electric by April 2026: report

India plans to order taxi aggregators like Uber and Ola to convert 40% of their fleet of cars to electric by April 2026, according to a source and records of government meetings to discuss new rules for clean mobility. Uber and Ola, both backed by Softbank Group, would need to start converting their fleet as early as next year to achieve 2.5% electrification by 2021, 5% by 2022, 10% by 2023 before hiking it to 40%.

Tech major Wipro on Thursday announced a change of guard as industry doyen Azim Premji steps down from his position as Chairman at the end of his tenure on July 30, 2019. His son Rishad Premji, who is the chief strategy officer and a board member of the company, has been appointed as the Executive Chairman with effect from July 31, 2019. Azim Premji will continue to serve as the Non-Executive Director on the board and the Founder Chairman.

PM Modi reconstitutes NITI Aayog; Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh named ex-officio members

Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the reconstitution of the NITI Aayog.. The governing council of the policy think tank is scheduled to meet on June 15 for the first time after Modi government won a second term last month. Google buys data analytics firm Looker for $2.6 billion

Alphabet Inc's Google said on Thursday it would buy Looker, a privately held big-data analytics company, for $2.6 billion in cash, in the first major acquisition for new Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian. Kurian told Reuters in an interview that doubling down on analytics made sense as he looked to fill gaps in his unit.

Third-party insurance for cars, 2-wheelers to become costlier from June 16

 Car and two-wheeler insurance will cost more from June 16 with regulator Irdai increasing the mandatory third party (TP) motor insurance premium by up to 21 per cent for certain categories. The third party insurance premium in case of school buses has also been increased.

ED to question Praful Patel on June 11 in connection with Deepak Talwar case

Former Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has been asked to appear before Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 11 for questioning in the Deepak Talwar aviation deals case. The senior NCP leader skipped the summons to appear before the ED on Thursday as he asked for more time to appear before the agency.
