IndiGo plane makes emergency landing in Hyderabad after smoke seen in cockpit
An IndiGo flight made an emergency landing on Tuesday evening at Hyderabad airport after smoke was seen in the cockpit due to malfunctioning of an exhaust fan in the plane's air conditioning system, said the airline. The A320neo aircraft, which was coming from Delhi, has been grounded temporarily due to the incident.
Allahabad Bank, PNB link loan products to repo rate
State-run Allahabad Bank on Tuesday announced linking of its retail loans with the Reserve Bank of India's repo rate in order to make them cheaper. The repo rate is the rate at which the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lends money to other banks. In a regulatory filing, Allahabad Bank said it has benchmarked its loans up to Rs 75 lakh with the external benchmark linked rates (EBLR) with effect from September 1, 2019.

India's competition watchdog to assess media, broadcasting sector
India's antitrust watchdog plans to conduct an assessment of the country's media and broadcasting sector to ensure that any competition concerns are identified and resolved swiftly, a government document seen by Reuters showed. The study will be among the first after India's finance minister last week asked the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to initiate more cases on its own to investigate antitrust practices and conduct market studies.

Smartphone sales down 1.7% globally; decline 2.3% in India
Global sales of smartphones to end-users declined 1.7 per cent in the Q2 of 2019, totalling 368 million units, according to Gartner. India sold 35.7 million smartphones, achieving a 9.7 per cent market share in the quarter. Sales in India showed a 2.3 per cent decline year over year, however, mainly due to slowing consumer upgrades from feature phones to smartphones.
