Besides creating new direct employment opportunities, Flipkart has also increased the indirect jobs through its seller network by 30 per cent to around 6.5 lakh as compared to last year.

Railways on fast track to roll out private trains on key routes

In a bid to provide better amenities and services to passengers, the government may soon start leasing out its passenger corridors and branch lines to private players on several important routes, suggested media reports. The Ministry of Railways is mulling to rope in private operators through ticketing arm Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), to run the trains, marking the first step towards privatising operations of the world's fourth largest rail network.

EPF interest rate increased to 8.65% from 8.55%

Ministry of Labour has notified 8.65 per cent interest rate on employee provident fund for 2018-19. After the notification, Rs 54,000 crore would be credited into accounts of 6 crore account holders as interest under the newly approved rate for 2018-19. Moreover, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will now be able to settle withdrawal claims on this rate.
