Coronavirus vaccine: All states to begin vaccine dry run from January 2

All states will start the dry run for coronavirus vaccination from January 2, 2021. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the Union Health Ministry that concluded on Thursday, December 31. Earlier, only four states - Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, and Assam, had carried out a two-day dry run to review the readiness of the mechanism laid out for the COVID-19 immunisation drive.

Reliance Jio Infocomm will make domestic voice calls free from January 1, after the interconnect usage charges (IUC) on such services end in line with TRAI's (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) directions. Over the last year or so, Reliance Jio has been charging customers 6 paise per minute for voice calls made to rival phone networks but compensated subscribers by giving them free data of equal value.

Delhi records second-lowest minimum temperature for December in the past 15 years: IMD report

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), December 2020 marked the second lowest temperature for the national capital in the month of December for the past 15 years. The data released by the IMD on Thursday showed the mean minimum temperature (MMT) for this December to be 7.1 degrees Celsius, down from 7.6 degrees Celsius last year. The lowest MMT recorded in the past 15 years in Delhi stood at 6.7 degrees Celsius in 2018, also marking the only instance the mean temperature fell below 7 degrees Celsius. The national capital also witnessed eight cold waves this winter in December, equalling that of December 2018.

IRCTC upgrades website, app with 'one click' theme

Passengers of Indian Railways will now be able to avail IRCTC's online services in an easier fashion starting next year, owing to upgrades in IRCTS's website as well as the Rail Connect app. The concept of "one click" forms the theme of the new IRCTC website, with several details such as availability of trains, booking of meals and accommodation, last transaction details etc. being made available at the click of a button. Some of the major features of the upgraded new IRCTC website are its changes in interface, offering a plethora of new options that make browsing hassle-free. The AI provides an enhanced process for searching trains, giving intelligent suggestions on journeys and train stations, and providing with predictive entry options for  saved passenger details.

36, 433 ventilators delivered to govt hospitals amid coronavirus: HealthMin

The Health Ministry said on Thursday that it had ensured delivery of 36,433 ventilators to government hospitals in the country and the average cost now ranges between Rs 2-10 lakh as the domestic industry took up manufacturing of the equipment. The ministry underlined that all public health facilities in the country had only around 16,000 ventilators from the Independence till pre-COVID times.
