Paul R Milgrom, Robert B Wilson win Nobel Prize for Economics 2020
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to confer the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Stanford University professors Paul R Milgrom and Robert B Wilson "for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats".
Using the auction theory, the researchers try to understand the results of different rules of bidding and final prices.

In what could be termed as second round of stimulus, the government yesterday announced measures that by its own estimate would give a demand boost of Rs 1 lakh crore. The measures announced largely fall in two categories - one, boosting consumer demand and another giving a push to capital expenditure by the Central as well as state governments.

The novel coronavirus survives for 28 days on banknotes, glass and other common surfaces, according to a study. SARS-CoV-2 is "extremely robust" and remains for two fortnights on smooth surfaces including glass found on grab handles, rails, mobile phone screens and plastic banknotes at room temperature or 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit), according to a research by Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness. A flu virus generally survives for 17 days.
7th Pay Commission: Good news for govt employees! Festival advance scheme revived
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has revived the "Festival Advance Scheme" on Monday. The special Festival Advance Scheme will provide a one-time interest-free advance of Rs 10,000 to all officers and central government employees, irrespective of their position, ranks, and whether they are gazetted or non-gazetted officers. The Rs 10,000 advance will come as a pre-paid Rupay card which can be spent by March 31, 2021. The repayment will be in 10 instalments, the FM added.

Retail inflation jumped to 7.34 per cent in September, mainly on account of higher food prices, official data showed on Monday. It's the highest level of inflation which has been recorded since January this year. The rate of price rise in the food basket was 10.68 per cent in September compared to 9.05 per cent in August.

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel added over 30 lakh wireless subscribers in June, in sharp contrast to Vodafone Idea who lost over 37 lakh active users during the month under review, as per the latest data by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 3.88 lakh subscribers during the month, while MTNL lost 5,457 users, the data showed.
Donald Trump claims he is coronavirus immune, Twitter says don't misinform people
Twitter continues to add warning labels against tweets that may potentially spread coronavirus misinformation. Twitter, flagged one of the US President Donald Trump's posts for violating its rules in context to COVID-19 misinformation. Trump in a tweet had said, "A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can't get it (immune), and can't give it. Very nice to know!!!"
