Infosys expands strategic partnership with Google Cloud

Infosys on August 21 announced it has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to become a Google Cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP). As a qualified MSP, Infosys will offer clients full application lifecycle services with its deep cloud and data analytics expertise, the Bengaluru-headquartered company said in a statement.

P Chidambaram arrested amid high drama, to appear before CBI court on Thursday

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been arrested from his residence in Jor Bagh locality of New Delhi. He has been taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a medical check-up, following which he will be taken to the CBI headquarters. He is expected to be produced before a special CBI court today. Earlier on Wednesday, Chidambaram's legal team tried to get anticipatory bail for him from the Supreme Court in the INX Media case.

Chief economic advisor K Subramanian asks India Inc to stop socialising losses


Chief economic advisor K Subramanian Wednesday called for a "mindset change" in the private sector by desisting from the tendency to grab profit and socialise losses and also seek sops in times of stress. He also said it will be only investment and not consumption that will help the economy grow, explaining that the latter boosts an economy with a higher per capita income of say $10,000 or more.

Weak growth is highest priority: RBI policy minutes


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lowered its benchmark interest rates for a fourth straight meeting this month with a slightly bigger than expected cut, underscoring its worries about the near-five year low economic growth pace. The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) cut the repo rate by an unconventional 35 basis points (bps) to 5.40%.

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Wednesday announced whistleblowers will get monetary reward of up to Rs 1 crore amid growing number of scams in corporate India. In a board meeting today, the regulator approved monetary reward for cases in which the whistleblower's information leads to a disgorgement of at least Rs 1 crore.

Nirav Modi to appear via video link from prison for remand hearing in UK

Fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, wanted in India in connection with the nearly USD 2 billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud and money laundering case, is set to appear before a UK court for his customary 28-day remand hearing today. Under the UK's law, Modi is expected to be produced before the court every four weeks.
