Chicken sales down 50%, prices by 70% on coronavirus rumour
Chicken sales in India have come down over 50 per cent and prices by 70 per cent in the last one month as speculation swirled on social media that chicken causes coronavirus disease, denting both demand and prices, a top Godrej Agrovet official said on Thursday. However, once the rumours die down and consumption rises in the next 2-3 months, there would be a shortage of chicken in the country causing sharp rise in prices, he noted.

Coronavirus update: China confirms 327 new cases; death toll touches 2,788
China had 327 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections on Thursday, the country's National Health Commission said on Friday, down from 433 cases a day earlier and the lowest since January 23. That brings the total accumulated number of confirmed cases in mainland China so far to 78,824. The death toll in mainland China reached 2,788 as of the end of Thursday, up by 44 from the previous day.

'Ease payment terms, extend loans': COAI to govt on AGR dues
Industry body COAI has sent out a distress signal to the government seeking easier terms for payment of statutory dues by telcos, including extension of loans at lower rates to cover AGR liabilities, as also fast implementation of floor prices, to rescue the troubled sector. Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) has also said that the requirement of financial bank guarantees for securing licence fee payments should be done away with.

Worldwide markets have plummeted again, deepening a weeklong rout triggered by growing anxiety that the coronavirus will wreak havoc on the global economy. The sweeping selloff pushed the benchmark S&P 500 down 4.4 per cent, its worst one-day drop since 2011. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled nearly 1,200 points. The S&P 500 has now plunged 12 per cent from the all-time high it set just a week ago. That puts the index in what market watchers call a "correction," which some analysts have said was long overdue.

Vistara takes delivery of its first B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft
Vistara took the delivery of its first wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner plane on Friday, making it the first Indian airline to fly this aircraft. The plane, which has the registration number VT-TSD, will depart from the Boeing facility here at 2 pm (local time) on Friday and land in Delhi at 2 pm (local time) on Saturday. The new aircraft is the first of the six that Vistara has purchased from Boeing.

TikTok is No.1! Beats Facebook, Instagram to become most downloaded app in US
Chinese tech firm ByteDance's TikTok is the most downloaded non-game app of January 2020 in the US. According to app analytics company Sensor Tower, the app was downloaded 7.7 million times combined on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Disney plus comes a close second with 6.8 million downloads. The app will launch next month in India with its local platform Hotstar.
