Nations that hoard possible COVID-19 vaccines while excluding others will deepen the pandemic, World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Tuesday, issuing a last-ditch call for countries to join a global vaccine pact. The WHO has an Aug. 31 deadline for wealthier nations to join the "COVAX Global Vaccines Facility" for sharing vaccine hopefuls with developing countries.

Reliance Industries acquires majority stake in Netmeds for Rs 620 crore

Reliance Industries' retail arm, Reliance Retail, has acquired a majority stake in Vitalic Health and subsidiaries, collectively known as Netmeds for Rs 620 crore. This investment represents approximately 60 per cent holding in the equity share capital of Vitalic, and 100 per cent direct equity ownership of its subsidiaries, the Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate said in a late night statement on Tuesday.

Subhash Chandra, founder of broadcasting company Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEE), has stepped down as the non-executive director of the company with immediate effect. Oxford coronavirus vaccine: Serum Institute to begin Phase 3 trials this week

Serum Institute of India (SII) that is producing the Oxford University-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine will start trials in India across selected research centres this week. Toyota to offer cars on lease, subscription in India

Toyota Motor Corp will offer its cars in India on leases or shorter-term subscriptions, hoping to tap growing demand for private transport as travellers cut down on communal journeys in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Japanese automaker said on Tuesday it would offer leasing plans to corporate and retail customers of three to five years across its portfolio of cars - including the Glanza hatchback, Yaris sedan and Fortuner sport-utility vehicle - for as little as 21,000 rupees ($281) a month.
