Mukesh Ambani gets richer by $9.3 bn this year; 5 new faces in Forbes India rich list

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian for the 11th year in a row with a net worth of $47.3 billion, according to Forbes magazine.  The billionaire tycoon is also the year's biggest gainer, growing richer by $9.3 billion as his telecom startup Reliance Jio has seen continued success. Wipro chairman Azim Premji retained the second spot on the 'Forbes India Rich List 2018', adding $2 billion to his wealth at $21 billion. Biotechnology pioneer Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has emerged as the biggest percentage gainer of the year. One of only four women on the list, her net worth rose 66.7 per cent to $3.6 billion.

New IL&FS board meet: Will consider all options to revive company, says Uday Kotak

Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS), a debt-laden infrastructure financing and construction company, will consider all available options to revive the firm, its new non-executive chairman said on Thursday.The new board of IL&FS does not underestimate the challenge, Uday Kotak told reporters. The government replaced the company's entire board on Monday after recent defaults on some of its debt obligations triggered declines in stock and debt markets

People are heaving a sigh of relief after the Centre government announced Rs 2.50 cut in petrol and diesel on Thursday, while also asking state governments announce cuts on similar lines. For Delhi, petrol now stands at Rs 81.50 per litre; diesel Rs 72.95 per litre and for Mumbai,  petrol is at Rs 86.97 per litre, diesel Rs 77.45 per litre

Chanda Kochhar quits as ICICI Bank CEO, Sandeep Bakhshi to take charge

Chanda Kochhar on Thursday quit as the MD and CEO of ICICI Bank. Kochhar, who has been at the helm since 2009, will be relieved with with immediate effect. However, the enquiry instituted by the ICICI Bank's board will remain unaffected by the resignation. Meahwhile, the board has appointed Sandeep Bakhshi as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer. Bakhshi's appointment will be for a period of five years until October 3, 2023.
Soon Uber customers, drivers won't see each other's mobile number  
Taxi hailing app Uber will soon launch a new feature wherein its customers and drivers will not be able to see each other's mobile numbers and they can talk through its application only. "Two side of call anonymization ... is when you call driver, the driver does not get your number and when drivers call you don't get drivers number. That's the tech we are investing in ..that will go live in India soon," Uber India and South Asia President Pradeep Parameswaran said on Thursday. He said that it has been one of the demands from riders and drivers.
Rahul says Rupee not breaking, it's broken  

As the rupee hit a record low of Rs 73.77 against the US dollar on Thursday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said the Indian currency is not breaking, but is "broken". The rupee plunged as global oil prices continued to rise, deepening concerns about the current account deficit and capital outflows.
"Breaking: Rupee slips to 73.77. It's not breaking - it's Broken," Gandhi said on Twitter. Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said with the rupee constantly losing its value, it is the "worst performing" currency of Asia.
