(Eds: Adds Rahul Gandhi's tweets) New Delhi, Jan 8 (PTI) No one can save Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Rafale investigation and the entire nation will know "without a shadow of doubt" that he has taken Rs 30,000 crore of people's money and given it to his "friend" Anil Ambani, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said on a day the Supreme Court reinstated CBI Director Alok Verma. He welcomed the Supreme court decision, saying "some justice" has been done with the reinstatement of CBI Director, who he alleged was ousted in the middle of the night as he was about to begin an inquiry into the Rafale jet deal. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, he said Prime Minister Modi and his government cannot run away from a probe into the deal now. "The CBI chief was ousted at 1 am in the night because he was about to begin a probe into the Rafale deal. The CBI chief has been reinstated and some justice has been done. Now let's see what happens," he told reporters. "They cannot run away from Rafale. It is impossible. Modiji ran away from a debate. He should have discussed with us the Rafale issue, in the people's court where the issue should be decided. No one can save them from Rafale, as Rafale is the truth. No one can run away from the truth, be it Narendra Modi or anyone else," he said. "The truth of Rafale will destroy Mr Modi. Itís only a question of time before full evidence of his role in the theft of 30,000 crore becomes public. Congratulations to the SC for upholding the law," Gandhi later tweeted. "Nobody can save the prime minister... Nothing is going to save the prime minister from Rafale. Though evidence in Rafale is open and shut, it is pretty clear that the prime minister has personally helped Mr Anil Ambani get Rs 30,000 crore. "Believe me, the nation is going to 100 per cent know that Narendra Modi has taken Rs 30,000 crore of people's money and given it to his friend Anil Ambani. 100 per cent without shadow of doubt, the nation will know this," he said. Gandhi's remarks come after the Supreme Court reinstated CBI Director Verma, setting aside the Centre's decision to divest him of his powers. The court, however, restrained him from taking any major policy decision till the CVC probe into corruption charges against him is over. Shortly after Verma was sent on leave late in October, Gandhi had accused Modi of allegedly removing him in an attempt to stop the officer from investigating the Rafale "scam". The party has often pressed the charge against the government since. It had also said that divesting Verma of his statutory powers abruptly ó amid a feud with his deputy Rakesh Asthana ó was illegal. The government has rejected the charges and said the two top CBI officers were sent on leave to protect the integrity of the premier investigating agency. On Tuesday after the Supreme Court judgment, Gandhi said Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke for 2.5 hours in Lok Sabha on Friday last, but did not reply to the questions raised by me. Sitharaman had accused the Congress of spreading "falsehood" on the issue. "I have a simple question, please tell the country when Prime Minister Narendra Modi bypassed the old Rafale deal. Did the air force, did the Defence Ministry raise an objection. That's my question. I am expecting a yes, no answer. The defence minister is not able to give one, neither is the prime minister," Gandhi said. "The PM pays 20,000 crore to Dassault before a single RAFALE is delivered but refuses to pay HAL 15,700 crore it is owed, forcing it to borrow 1,000 crore to pay salaries. Meanwhile, the RM spins lie after lie but cannot answer my questions.," he said on Twitter earlier. The Congress party has been targeting Modi on the deal alleging the price of each Rafale aircraft has sharply increased from Rs 526 crore, negotiated by the previous UPA government, to Rs 1,600 crore and that the contract will help Anil Ambani get Rs 30,000 crore benefit through offset contract. Ambani too has rejected the charges. PTI SKC GVS
