While the Sensex rose 89 points to 34,395, Nifty closed 20 points higher to 10,548 level. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday monsoon rains are likely to be 97 per cent of their long-term average in 2018, reassuring farmers ahead of summer planting in a country where only half of the farmland is irrigated.
