Data pertaining to BSE 500 constituent stocks reveal that 314 stocks slipped below their face value on February 18, 2019. Among the individual stocks, Adlabs Entertainment, IL&FS Transport, Punj Lloyd, Reliance Naval and Reliance Communication slipped below their face value on the bourses.

Ambuja Cements share price rose up to 2.45% to 202.70 level compared to the previous close of 197.85 on the BSE.

While Sensex rose 330 points or 0.97% to 34413 level, Nifty staged a 100 point (0.96%) recovery from Wednesday's lows. The key indices started on a positive note in early trade and held on to their gains throughout the day, recording 552 points  and 161 points gains intra day, respectively compared to yesterday's close.

While the Sensex is up 27.94% or 7,440 points since the beginning of this year, the Nifty has gained 28 percent or 2,296 points.  The BSE midcap and smallcap indexes too rose 58% and 61 percent, respectively.

HDFC Bank,  Zee Enterprises and Ambuja Cements were trading 0.34 percent, 0.40 percent and 1.17 percent higher, respectively ahead of their Q1 earnings scheduled to be announced today.

Analysts said they expect indices to trade range-bound as companies continue to report results, though the overall outlook remains hopeful about an economic recovery.

The Sensex closed 290.54 points or 0.99 percent higher at 29,655 level, Nifty too ended in green with 1.08 percent gain at 9217 level.

The headline indices edged lower as investors exercised caution ahead of a government meeting to discuss the goods and services tax bill and central bank meetings in the United States and Japan.
