Fuel prices in several states across India continued the drop on Monday, post the Diwali week. On Sunday too, petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across the country

According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), about 6,000 kg of gold worth Rs 2,500 crore was estimated to have been sold till evening on Dhanteras day, as against 17,000 kg of gold worth Rs 5,500 crore on this auspicious day in 2018.

Gold price stood at Rs 32,000 on Dhanteras (November 5) last year. Gold price had closed at Rs 39,020 per 10 gram yesterday.

Among listed jewellery and ornament manufacturing companies, Titan Company, Atlas Jewellery, Rajesh Exports were among top gainers, while PC Jeweller,  Thangamayil Jewellery, Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri and Uday Jewellery Industries were notable losers

Commenting on gold prices ahead of Dhanteras, Jateen Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst (Commodity & Currency) at LKP Securities quoted,\"With Diwali less than a week away it looks likely investors shall get ample time to buy the Gold in this range of 38000 levels as the metal looks steady\"

The government will issue SGB four times before the end of the financial year in March 2020. The subscription window generally remains open for five working days.

With Rs 2.5 lakh in 1994, one would have purchased Rs 543.8 gm of gold. The price of the same quantity would have increased to over Rs 21 lakh now. In September, gold prices touched a six-year high of Rs 40,000 per 10 gram.
