The scheme rates comprising Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSY), National Savings Certificate (NSC) and Senior Citizen Savings Scheme (SCSS) are revised on a quarterly basis.

\"...the rates of interest on various small savings schemes for the second quarter of financial year 2018-19 starting July 1 and ending on September 30, 2018 shall remain unchanged from those notified for the fourth quarter of financial year 2017-18,\" the Finance Ministry said while notifying the rates for the second quarter.

Government has kept interest rates on small savings schemes like PPF and Kisan Vikas Patra unchanged for the January-March quarter even as banks have started lowering their deposit rates.

The Finance Ministry in a statement said that interest rate on one-year deposits for July-October quarter of this fiscal has been kept unchanged at 7.1 per cent.
