The company said that users can also choose to display their gender on their profile as well.

Recently, a CAG report had come down hard on the railways for the flexi-fare prices and it stated a comparison with airfare for 13 sectors showed that travelling in aeroplane was cheaper than in train for a large number of routes.

Indian Railways has revised the schedule of over 300 Northern Railways trains. The new schedule will be effective from August 15, which means the previous timings will be applicable till August 14.

Features like train search without login, easy-to-use web interface, alternative accommodation facility, etc, have been incorporated in the new IRCTC portal, whose final version was launched on June 13.

Indian Railways is planning to induct a new 'Economy AC coaches' for passengers who want to travel in air conditioned coaches at low fares.

Train passengers will soon have option of travelling in a new class of Economy AC coaches with fares less than normal 3AC tariff.

The upgraded coaches will also have mobile charging points and reading lights for every passenger. The changes have been planned after feedback from travellers.  

The Indian Railways have sought a 'major makeover' for the AC 3-tier coach in a bid to make it more passenger-friendly.

Western Railways' first Humsafar Express between Ahmedabad and Chennai was flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at a function held in Udvada town in Valsad district on Tuesday.

The daily Gorakhpur-Badshahnagar Express will be flagged off from Gorakhpur by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu through video conferencing from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, said a senior Railway Ministry official.
