Swedish retail giant Ikea has put all its might behind the company's first store in India opening in Hyderabad. The company put in around 12 years of work and took 6 years after their announcement to open their first Indian outlet. It is finally opening on August 9.

After Hyderabad, the next store is popping up in Mumbai and eventually in Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pune and other cities.

The Hyderabad store has come up with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. This would provide 1,000 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs at the store, and 50 per cent of the employees would be women.

IKEA Retail India decided to move the date as it needs some more time to live up to its expected quality commitments towards customers and coworkers, the company said in a statement.
