To take on cab aggregators Ola and Uber, car rental service Meru Cabs will now allow drivers to set dynamic fares. The move to launch a marketplace model ushers in a new era for Meru Cabs, which had seen a significant drop in its market share after ride-hailing apps Uber and Ola began services in the country.

There have been allegations that aggregators like Uber and Ola indulge in \"predatory pricing\" as they are backed by investor money. These app-based companies offer rides at fractional costs compared to that of fleet cab operators like Meru.

With the fare calculator called 'Fare Exactometer', customers can know the exact fare of their trip at the time of booking a cab from the Meru Cabs App.

Meru will use the funds to further strengthen foothold in the Indian market with a focus on providing quality service based on a sustainable business model, it said in a statement.

\"Meru's entire range of taxi services will now be accessible to Facebook users via Facebook Messenger and will allow them to book cabs using key words and conversational question-answers through the service called Meru Messenger Bot,\" the company said in a press release.

The radio taxi operator has also shifted its focus to new segments like ride sharing, car pooling and plans to introduce inter-city ride sharing services in popular routes like Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Meerut etc.
