1. WhatsApp suggest ways to curb fake news on its platformResponding to concerns raised by the Indian government, WhatsApp suggest ways to check the spread of fake news on its platform. These ways include product controls, digital literacy and fact-checking. WhatsApp recently introduced limited broadcasting and marking forwarded messages as product controls. The Facebook-owned instant messaging platform indicated that its deals with absue in two ways - by giving controls and information to the user to keep them safe and by proactively stopping the misuse of the platform.2. Google under fire for allowing third parties to scan Gmail inboxesGoogle faced a lot of flak for allowing third party developers scan the inboxes of Gmail users. While the Mountain View tech giant has stopped scanning its users' inboxes for sending personalised ads, it allowed third parties to continue doing the same. Some of the third party developers even had access to thousands of Gmail user accounts. Google later clarified that it vets its third-party apps to make sure they request only relevant information and do not misrepresent themselves.3. Reliance Jio launches JioGigaFiber, JioPhone 2Reliance Jio launched its much-awaited fixed fibre internet connection at its AGM this week. WhatsApp suggests changes to check the spread of fake newsOn instructions from Government of India, WhatsApp suggested ways to check the spread of fake news on its platform. These ways include product controls, data literacy and fact checking. On Tuesday, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had asked WhatsApp to control 'irresponsible and explosive messages' on its platform. WhatsApp says that it employs two approaches to check abuse on its platform - give controls and information to users to keep them safe and then proactively check the misuse of the platform.OnePlus 6 rival Asus Zenfone 5z launched in IndiaAsus has launched the Zenfone 5Z in India. WhatsApp launches new One-Way Broadcasting feature for group chatsWhatsApp's new One-way Broadcasting feature has been rolled out to most devices. The new feature lets a group admin dictate what is posted in a group. As the feature's name suggests, it's a one-way flow of messages. The group admin will be the only person who can post within that group. The new feature is being rolled out to all Android, iOS devices and is already in place within the Groups in your WhatsApp chats. To access the feature, go to the WhatsApp group where you are an admin and then tap on the group's name and select 'group info'. Within 'group info', go to 'group settings' and then select 'send messages'. A pop up will ask you to choose who can send messages in the group. On6 is another in the line of On-series mid-range phones launched by the technology giant. Last year the company had launched a Red variant of the OnePlus 5T as well. The company unveiled the Red variant of the OnePlus 6 on its Indian twitter handle. There are no details about the availability of the new variant but the company will be start selling the red variant in other global markets from next week. Indian OnePlus fans can expect a similar launch time. We are expecting that the company will release more information on the official availability of the new variant later during the day.

OnePlus to develop the first 5G smartphoneThe next OnePlus device might very well be the first 5GB smartphone ever. Talking at Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, OnePlus chief Pete Lau said that the company is exploring its partnership with Qualcomm to develop one of the first 5G phones. The launch of the next OnePlus flagship, which is likely to be called OnePlus 7, will be in sync with the first yeatr of 5G in the US. OnePlus is also looking into carrier deals in the United States to expand its reach in one of the most important markets in the world.Redmi 6 Pro launched in ChinaXiaomi added the Redmi 6 Pro to its new generation of Redmi smartphones. The device was launched in China earlier this week. The redmi 6 Pro comes with the trusted Snapdragon 625, coupled with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The three variants of the device get either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, depending on their memory configuration. At the front is a 5.8-inch FullHD+ screen with a display cutout at top, the first in Redmi devices. However, both companies withheld the compensation amount that has been paid to Apple in this matter. Apple sued Samsung for the first time in 2011 over charges of copying design and utility patents of iPhone.Instagram brings own video call featureAfter introducing its TV feature last week, Instagram rolled out its own video call feature this week. The video call is available to all Instgram users, and they will only  have to update their apps to the latest verison. The video call option in available under the chat section of Instagram.WhatsApp Payments delayed due to lack of communicationThe launch of WhatsApp Payments has been delayed due to lack of communication betweenn the agencies. Reports suggest that the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has failed to answer critcial questions about the UPI-based payments services asked by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. WhatsApp Payments has been in Beta since February and is being tested by one million users.
