Share Market Update:  Indian Benchmark indices extended gains in the afternoon session to close on the positive side, backed up by gains in Bank, Realty, Auto and Financial Services. However, India Vix index, that subjects volatility in the market, was up at 27, ahead of counting of Lok Sabha Election 2019 to be done on May 23.

Market breadth was positive with 1,513 stocks closing higher against 1224 falling on the BSE. 157 stocks remained unchanged. Infosys (1.87 percent), Bajaj Auto (1.07percent), and Mahindra and Mahindra 1.05 percent pushed the Sensex higher.

The stock briefly hit the upper circuit of 136.5 level between 10:00 am and 10:30 am and subsequently fell to intra day and 52-week low of 123.60 on the BSE.

On the 30-stock Sensex, ITC (1.83 percent), Axis Bank (1.47 percent) and ICICI  Bank (1.42 percent) were the top gainers, with only three stocks M&M, Tata Motors and ONGC trading in the red.

On the 30-stock Sensex, 26 closed higher with Larsen and Toubro (4.69 percent), HDFC Bank (3.10 percent), and ICICI Bank (3.06 percent) being the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Sensex on Friday was trading flat, while the broader Nifty50 was hovering around its key support level of 8,600 on the first day of October series of derivatives contracts.
