As India's ambition to become a global auto hub is curbed, manufacturers focus on the domestic market. But that is where the turmoil is.

Following the increase in petrol prices and customers showing a preference for diesel cars over the petrol versions, most automakers are changing their sales strategies and launch plans to give sales a decisive boost.

As rising petrol price takes its toll on car sales that slipped to 20-month lows in the last three months, auto makers are offering dangling discounts before the customers to boost their sales.

The car will now be available between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) said in a statement.

The petrol variant, however, will see no increase in price, the company said in a statement. Currently, the diesel variant is available between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 9.24 lakh.
