Any IndiGo ticket you book now will carry a fuel surcharge of Rs 200 on short flights covering a distance of under 1,000 km, while flights on longer routes above this threshold will incur an extra charge of Rs 400 per passenger.

Starting today till March 22, 36 IndiGo flights will remain cancelled, and 18 flights between March 22 and 24. Meanwhile, GoAir has cancelled 8 flights during March 15-20 and 10 flights between March 16 and March 24.

Apart from ordering a review of the exorbitant cancellation penalty, government is also reportedly working on a passenger bill of rights (PBOR) that will incorporate global best practices.

Director General of Civil Aviation EK Bharat Bhushan said no safety \"compromises have been made\" by the airline.  He also said a special safety audit would be carried out.
