Amazon has introduced a new smartphone that will be closely tied to the products and services it sells, while adding such touches as the ability to render images in 3-D. It was announced Wednesday and will start shipping next month.

The smartphone is equipped with a 3D-capable screen and the ability to recognise objects, music and TV shows.

The company is hosting a launch event on Wednesday in Seattle, and reports indicate the product will be an Amazon phone.
