Since a larger number of it is over 100-fleet are grounded leading to drastically curtailed operations, the airline is struggling to prevent a nose-dive somehow.

Cash-strapped Jet Airways Monday said it has grounded four more planes, taking the number of aircraft that are non-operational due to non-payment of lease rentals to 41.

The DGCA issued grounding orders for Boeing 737 MAX 8 early this week. SpiceJet and Jet Airways have just 18 of them, of which five were already grounded by Jet due to its financial troubles.

Operations of airlines like SpiceJet and Jet Airways have been hit due to the government's decision to join a global grounding of 737-MAX aircraft following a crash in Ethiopia.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of action being taken against Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft after one such plane operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed near Addis Ababa, killing 157 passengers, including four Indians.

The government has made it clear that this aircraft will not be allowed to enter or transit the Indian airspace from 4 pm today.

The sale, which will be valid between February 21 and February 25, is applicable on one way and return journeys; the special offer is available on first-come-first-served basis.

While the airline claims that it is adjusting its flight schedule to stabilize operations after the chaos caused by the recent Delhi hailstorm, the buzz is that pilot and crew shortage is actually to blame. 

While around 100 flights could be affected due to the runway closure at the Bengaluru airport, the number could go up to 5,000 at Mumbai airport due to the restoration work.
