Auto sales slowed a little in January after five months on the racing tracks. Maruti Suzuki India registered a 14.74 per cent rise in its sales at 1,09,743 units during the first month of 2011 against 95,649 units.

The company's sales in the domestic market stood at 1,00,422 units in the reviewed month, a 23.84 per cent increase from 81,087 units in the same month last financial year.

Maruti Suzuki had posted a 17.80 per cent decline in its net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, at Rs 565.17 crore due to higher royalty payout and employee cost.
