India's fuel demand shrinks 4.4% to 15.47 mn tonnes in SeptIndia's fuel demand fell about 4.4% in September compared with a year earlier, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the Oil Ministry showed on Friday.Consumption of fuel, a proxy for oil demand, totalled 15.47 million tonnes, the data showed. In a notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said earlier this week, that export of onions in forms other than cut, sliced or powder had been banned. Heavy rains in August washed out most of the onion crop in Karnataka that was almost ready to hit markets in September, which led to dwindling supply but rising demand. Other countries including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh's year-round demand has also added to the pressure. Watch the video for more.
