The steep rise in the staple's prices drove the government to impose a minimum export price (MEP) of $850 a tonne on September 15. This was followed by an export ban and imposition of stock limits.

The weather department has forecast a long delayed withdrawal of Monsoon and more rains for Bihar, including capital Patna where several areas still remain submerged, and food and relief material are being air dropped.

Delhi weather: An official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said scattered light rains are expected in Delhi over the next three to four days which will help check humidity and pollution levels.

Bihar floods: Patna was the worst affected with parts of the capital namely Dak Bungalow Chauraha, NMCH and others were submerged in deep waters and its residents were rescued by the authorities with the help of municipal cranes.
