The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 7.11 points, or 0.02%, at 30,296.26, the S&P 500 was down 3.69 points, or 0.09%, at 3,718.85

While Sensex rose 556 points to 46,164, Nifty climbed 156 points to 13,558

Sensex, Nifty updates on December 7:   During the session, Sensex gained 339 points to 45,418 and Nifty rose 96 points to 13,354.

The S&P 500 opened higher by 36.20 points, or 1.00%, at 3,657.83, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 80.77 points, or 0.66%, to 12,279.51

The gains marked the biggest daily percentage rise for each index since March 24. Despite Monday's bounce, the S&P 500 remains down more than 21% from its mid-February record close.

Markets in Hong Kong, Sydney, Shanghai and Seoul fell, though futures for the S&P 500 bounced following Wall Street's 4% plunge overnight.
