In August last year, Sebi had directed exchanges to act against 331 suspected shell companies, while the government has already deregistered more than 2 lakh firms that have not been carrying out business activities for long.

Fresh India links have emerged with Firstland Holdings Limited, the mysterious privately held Mauritius-based investment vehicle that injected the first lot of Rs 325 crore into Deepak Kochhar's NuPower Renewables.

Whistleblower Arvind Gupta had alleged that during December 2010 and March 2012, Firstland Holdings, Mauritius, invested Rs 325 crore (10% of the first loan amount) in NuPower; in 2014, that investment was transferred to Mauritius' DH Renewables, which invested another Rs 66 crore (10% of the second loan) in NuPower.

There's little clarity as to whether JioHomeTV, which Reliance Jio is planning to launch soon, is the much-anticipated Jio DTH service or a unique service for its data plan customers.
