Air passengers flying on Jet Airways will have to shell out Rs 900 for carrying extra cabin bag on domestic flights. The new rules will come into effect from Friday for passengers flying from the six metros.
Cabin baggage allowance may vary depending on the type of aircraft, class of travel (First Class, Premiere or Economy), domestic or international flights, route and JetPrivilege Tier status, the airline said.
According to new rules, guests travelling with additional cabin baggage on Jet Airways flights will be charged Rs 900 per bag at the boarding gate. This policy is applicable for flights within India, departing from the following cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad) irrespective of the booking date.
The move to charge a fee for extra cabin baggage comes at a time when civil aviation regulator ordered a cut in excess (check-in) baggage charges from Rs 300 to Rs 100 per kg.
Domestic airlines have filed a petition in Delhi High Court challenging DGCA's decision to reduce excess baggage fees.
