Domestic carriers may take a beating with govt mulling a crackdown on Airbus A320neo planes

The meeting called by the aviation ministry today will look at possibility of asking domestic airlines to defer induction of Airbus A320neo planes and perhaps even ground the existing fleet.

 
 
Notably, according to Rule 24 of the Aircraft Rules, crew members are not allowed to consume alcohol 12 hours before the commencement of a flight.
To check whether there have been any violations, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has sought explanation from the crew of that flight.
The report by standing committee on transport, tourism and culture carries a series of recommendations that highlight the problems with the current aviation ecosystem.
Analysts say Jet Airways needs to raise at least $250-300 million immediately to pay off its dues to lenders and vendors.
The airline is yet to clarify if it would honour the bookings.
