BT Online Bureau     August 16, 2013
Chennai Express is continuing its journey into box-office record books. First, it broke Ek Tha Tiger's record by grossing Rs 100 crore in just four days of its release. Ek Tha Tiger had held the Rs 100 crore record by reaching the mark in first five days.

Now Chennai Express's collections have touched the Rs 150 crore mark in its first week, also a Bollywood box-office record.

In a tweet trade analyst Taran Adarsh said: "ChennaiExpress PP 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr, Sat 28.05 cr, Sun 32.5 cr, Mon 12.62 cr, Tue 11.5 cr, Wed 12.56 cr, Thu 19.6 cr. Total: 156.7 cr."

The romantic comedy starring Shah Rukh Khan benefited not only from the long festive weekend of Eid, but also a good showing in the southern region.

Chennai Express, which also stars Deepika Padukone, has been co-producted by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures.

The Rohit Shetty directorial movie is a tale of a north Indian man, who falls in love with the daughter of a don down south.
