Union Budget 2014-15: Focus on skill development encouraging, says Vivek Nath
July 11, 2014
Business Today spoke to Towers Watson India MD Vivek Nath on what he thinks about Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's Budget for 2014-15 -
"It is extremely encouraging to note the new government's focus on skill development and education in its comprehensive budget.
Creating jobs is only one part of the equation for employment in developing India - workers must also have the skills to perform them. With over 12 million youth joining the workforce each year, bridging the skill gap is a critical issue facing the nation.
The Rs 100 crore allocated for a start-up programme for rural youth is another move in the right direction that will encourage home-bred innovation as well as create more jobs.
The government must follow a transparent and multi-sector approach to ensure that the Budget announcement meets its stated objective and chart the path for a new confident India."
