7Artisans is a lens manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China. The company is known to produce lenses for Leica, Nikon and Sony E among others. This time, the optic company has launched two new lenses called - 7Artisans 35mm F5.6 pancake lens, and 7Artisans 7.5mm F2.8 II fisheye lens.
7Artisans 35mm F5.6 pancake lens is a full-frame optic. The lens consists of five elements in four groups. With a fixed aperture of F5.6, the minimum focusing distance is 0.3m. Made of metal, the length of the lens is 22mm with a diameter of 60mm. The lens only features manual focusing. The pancake lens was already available for Leica M-mount. The new lens now has Nikon Z-mount, Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount versions.
The pancake lenses add little length to the front of the camera. They are easy-to-use and portable. To shoot with a pancake lens feels like shooting with no lens at all. The lens has a minimal impact on the size and weight of the camera system.
7Artisans 7.5mm F2.8 II fisheye lens is an APS-C optic. It is a successor of a 7.5mm F2.8 fisheye lens launched in 2017. The new lens with full manual operation is an ultra-wide angle lens to produce an extremely wide angle of view. Such lenses are well-liked among architecture and landscape photographers.
The fisheye lenses are known for their curvilinear barrel distortion. This makes an image look distorted and straight lines also appear curved at times. Many fisheye lenses are designed to capture an extremely wide angle of view that probably exceeds 180 degrees.
As for the price and availability, both the latest 7Artisans lenses can be ordered from the Photo Rumors Online Store. The new lenses can be bought with free international shipping.
