Apple finally launched the much-awaited iPhone SE 2020 on Wednesday. However, soon after the launch of Apple's second budget iPhone, the company discontinued the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This wasn't unexpected as the iPhone SE 2020 is basically the successor to the iPhone 8 albeit without a plus version.
As per MacRumours, the phones will no longer be sold by Apple but would be available in selected e-commerce websites such as Amazon, Flipkart and it will be available through selected retailers.
The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus were unveiled way back in September 2017 along with the flagship phone iPhone X. The iPhone 8 and 8 plus were then successors to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Interestingly, Apple has brought back the three-year-old design with iPhone SE 2020 albeit with the latest insides and a lower starting price.
Coming to the iPhone SE 2020, the phone starts at Rs 42,500 in India and looks identical to the iPhone 8. The new generation SE brings back the iconic Touch ID that was last found in the iPhone 8 series. Apple has been making bezel-less displays ever since.
The iPhone SE 2020 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD Display and it is available in three colour options such as the black, white and the Product Red. It terms of design, it is compact and has a glass front and back with an aluminum frame.
The iPhone SE 2020 has the insides of the iPhone 11 series. The phone is powered by the A13 Bionic chipset, which is the fastest processor Apple is offering currently. And not just that, the A13 is the fastest processor in the market too, It is faster than the high-end Android phones. The smartphone comes in three storage options- the 64GB, 128GB and the 256GB.
In terms of the camera, the iPhone SE 2020 features a 12-megapixel rear camera f/1.8 aperture Wide camera. The camera includes the Portrait mode, along with six Portrait Lighting effects and Depth Control. On the front, the iPhone SE 2020 has a 7-megapixel camera, which is also capable of taking stunning portraits using machine learning and monocular depth estimation.
The iPhone SE will be available for pre-order on April 17 and Apple will start shipping the devices on April 24 in the US.
