Amazon Prime has now rolled out one of the most-awaited features for its users across the globe. The profiles feature, which was rolled out for users in select countries including India, is now being rolled out for users in the United States. The profiles will be available in Prime Video app on iOS, Android, Fire tablet and the Fire TV Prime Video app

Amazon Prime's profile feature allows users to create up to six separate profiles for their family members and friends. This means that all the profiles created using a single account will have a separate set of recommendations. Viewing history and watchlists. Users can also create a separate profile for kids and adults, also prohibit adult content from coming into their kids' account.

Adults can also set up parental controls to monitor their kids' viewing time and stop them from accessing adult content. Interestingly, if they want to prohibit the adult content from appearing in their Amazon Prime-enabled device in the living room, they have the control to do so. They simply have to enter a PIN code to access or bar the content from appearing.

As per a report by TechCrunch, the profile feature was initially launched in India as well in some parts of Africa but now it has been made available to all users across the globe. The feature is being gradually rolled out so if don't get the feature, don't worry, you will get sooner or later.

We have seen a similar feature on Netflix, that allows the user to create five individual profiles. While Netflix has customized profile avatars, Amazon Prime doesn't have that feature despite being in the market for quite some time now. This feature is also economical for people who don't want to spend the entire amount all by themselves, they can share the cost with friends to balance out their finances.

For instance, Amazon Prime subscription costs Rs 999 in India for a year but if you share your account with six different users, the individual cost would be around Rs 166 per year, if the total amount is divided amongst six people. This would be beneficial for college-goers, who want to consume the exclusive content available on Amazon Prime, but don't wish to spend Rs 999 a year. It is not only affordable but it also makes a lot of sense. Similarly, you can access the premium content on Netflix by following the same process if you don't want to spend the entire, all by yourself.
