- The iPhone 12 is going to be launched by Apple tonight.
- The iPhone 12 is expected to be more popular than iPhone 11, says an analyst.
- The iPhone 12 may end up finding more takers than even the iPhone Mini.
Apple is set to launch the new iPhone 12 series tonight. At the same event, the company will also likely launch a new HomePod Mini and the wireless charger, which Apple had announced earlier. Of the iPhones, there are four that are expected. These are the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. An analyst, who tracks Apple, says that of all four the iPhone 12 is expected to be the most popular among buyers.
Tianfeng International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes that iPhone 11 last year was the most popular iPhone and this year its successor, the iPhone 12, is going to surpass it. In a research note Kuo highlighted that of all the iPhones that Apple ships this year, the share of iPhone 12 in the shipment will be around 45 per cent.
In comparison, the shipment of the iPhone 12 Mini will be between 20 to 25 per cent. The iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have shipment of around 15 to 20 per cent each.
Kuo highlights that this will be because of the price and value that the iPhone 12 offers. This value will be similar to what iPhone 11 offers to consumers, making it one of the best-selling iPhones in the last one year.
There are going to be four iPhone this year. While their core hardware, expected to be built around the Apple A14 Bionic processor, is going to be similar, they will differ primarily in their screen sizes and camera capabilities. The iPhone 12 Mini is expected to have a 5.4-inch screen and two rear cameras, the iPhone 12 will likely come with a 6.1-inch screen and similar two rear cameras, the iPhone 12 Pro will have three rear cameras and a screen size of 6.1-inch and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will probably have a screen size of 6.7-inch and there are going to be three rear cameras in it.
Apart from the iPhones, Apple is also expected to launch a HomePod Mini, with a price of $199, and a wireless charger at the Hi Speed event today.
