Apple Watch users will now be able to access songs directly on Spotify without needing an iPhone. So users can now stream music without connecting the watch to the iPhone, Spotify had confirmed. The music app had tested the feature in September and will now expand it to all users.

"We're focused on developing experiences that enable users to listen to Spotify wherever and whenever they want — regardless of the device or platform. After an initial testing period, we are now rolling out streaming capabilities for Spotify on the Apple Watch," Spotify told Engadget in a statement. However, despite the new feature, offline listening is not an option on Apple Watch yet.

The report states that Spotify's streaming feature was rolled out to some Apple Watch users over the weekend. This feature would allow users to access their playlist using Wi-Fi or cellular network with the Spotify app on Apple Watch and connect it to headphones or earphones.

This means that users would no longer need to carry iPhones anymore to access Spotify on Apple Watch. Even while jogging or gymming, users can simply connect their headphones or earphones to their Apple Watch and listen to music. The iPhone is not required there. To change songs or access songs, users will have to rely heavily on Siri as there is no search function on the Spotify app.

On another note, Apple had launched its subscription bundle Apple One recently but Apple was not happy about it. The Swedish company took on Apple's policies and its position. "Once again, Apple is using its dominant position and unfair practices to disadvantage competitors and deprive consumers by favoring its own services. We call on competition authorities to act urgently to restrict Apple's anti-competitive behavior, which if left unchecked, will cause irreparable harm to the developer community and threaten our collective freedoms to listen, learn, create, and connect," Spotify said in a statement.

Spotify alleged that Apple One bundle announced recently disadvantages streaming music rivals. It is because Spotify and Apple charge $10 (roughly Rs 740) a month for their streaming music service, but the Apple One package bundles it with other services such as television or video games that start at $15 (roughly Rs 1100) per month in the US, Reuters report stated.
