Apple on Friday announced that it will replace faulty AirPods Pro free of cost. The Cupertino Giant in its new repair program has offered repairs and replacements if the EarPods have ANC issues or if it comes with a crackling or static sound. Interestingly, Apple had launched the AirPods Pro a year ago in October 30.
Apple in its blog stated that a small percentage of AirPods Pro that were manufactured before October 2020 could experience sound issues. Apple will only replace or repair AirPods if they exhibit the following behaviors:-
—Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise, or while talking on the phone
—Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
Apple will not charge any money for the repair. Users can get it done in any Apple Authorized Service Provider for free.
However, Apple will only consider your AirPods Pro for repair or replacement if it is found to be eligible for the repair program. Your AirPods Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that they are eligible for this program. AirPods Pro (left, right, or both) with a confirmed issue will be replaced. The AirPods Pro case is not affected and will not be replaced," Apple said in a blog.
The repair program will not extend the warranty of the device but it covers replacements of both the earbuds even after two years. In case you are facing any issue, you can contact Apple Support, an Apple Store, or an authorized service provider to get your product verified.
It was earlier reported that Apple is working on the second generation of Airpods Pro and third-generation entry-level AirPods. As per a Bloomberg report, Apple would likely make the second-generation AirPods Pro more compact by getting rid of the short stem that sticks out from the bottom.
A new design that is being tested has a more rounded shape that fills more of a user's ear. This development of this audio product has proved to be challenging because of the integration of noise-cancellation, wireless antennas and microphones into a smaller AirPods Pro casing.
