Highlights

  • Both Flipkart and Amazon are offering many fresh discounts as part of festive sale.
  • Amazon has announced a 5-day Happiness Upgrade Days sale.
  • Flipkart is running Dussehra Specials and then will start a Big Diwali Sale.

The sale and discount season that Flipkart and Amazon started around 10 days ago continues, with both e-retailers announcing fresh offers and deals. In some ways these offers are and deals are better than what was available during Amazon Great Indian festival Sale and Flipkart Big Billion Days but in some ways they are worse. However, mostly they are the same.

This time, Flipkart has started the Dussehra Sale from October 22 and it is going to run until October 28. After October 28, the company will start the Big Diwali Sale, which may end up running until Diwali. Amazon, meanwhile, has not officially announced an end date for it's Great Indian Festival Sale, and this too is likely to stretch until Diwali.

At the same time, now Amazon has announced a new sale called Happiness Upgrade Days in which it is mostly offering the same deals that it is offering for close to the last 10 days.

Though, there is one big change. More banks have now come on board for instant discounts. And HDFC Bank is out of the picture. "Customers can Save Big with a 10 per cent instant bank discount on Axis Bank, Citibank and ICICI Bank Credit & Debit Cards and EMI transactions. They can get a 5 per cent instant discount plus up to 5 per cent Reward Points with Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card," Amazon said in a statement.

On the Flipkart side, SBI is out of the picture. Instead, in the Big Diwali Sale it will be the Axis Bank card users who will get an instant 10 per cent discount.

As far as smartphones and gadgets are concerned, in most cases the fresh deals on Amazon India and Flipkart are either the same as what they are offering for the last one week, or they are slightly worse. For example, the iPhone 11 which was sold at a price of Rs 47,999 during the Great Indian Festival Sale is now at Rs 49,999. Though it is possible that once Flipkart and Amazon move closer to Diwali we may again see some more blockbuster deals.
