Google is likely to launch a Truecaller-like app soon. As per reports, the search giant would soon launch a revamped version of the Phone by Google app. Although Google is yet to make an announcement about the upcoming app, Google Call was spotted by a user on YouTube. The new app is speculated to be known as Google Call will provide caller ID and other features like Truecaller.
An ad on YouTube sparked off rumors about the upcoming Google Caller ID app. It was first reported by a user on Reddit and spotted by 9to5 Google. The user shared a screenshot of the app that clearly shows the Google Call app. "Know who's calling. Reliable called ID lets you answer with confidence," the message on the ad reads. There is also an image of how the app is going to look once it is rolled out. The app, just like Truecaller will tell you who is calling.
The Google Call app which has a phone icon is not available on Google Play Store yet. However, now that Google has advertised the app on YouTube, it could be gearing up for a roll-out soon. The app once rolled out will compete with Truecaller, which recently got some advanced features.
Some of the noteworthy features that were rolled out by Truecaller included Call Reason, Schedule SMS, SMS Translate. The app, which has over 250 million users, identifies spammers by showing who is calling with spam details to the pop-up. The latest features would not only tell a user who is calling but would also tell him why that person is calling.
The Call reason feature would let users set a reason for their call so that the receiver can decide whether he wants to take the call or not. The user can set whether the call is personal, business, or something urgent. Often times, users get calls from telecallers in the middle of something very important. This feature would allow the callers to state their reason for the call depending on which his/her will be received.
Users can also schedule SMS on Truecaller by choosing a date and time on the app. This feature is available only for Android users. The app also has an SMS translate feature that automatically detects if a foreign language is used in the messaging screen and will show that a translation is available. With so many advanced features available in Truecaller, Google should provide enough and better reasons to attract subscribers.
