  • Google Pixel 5 has been announced by the company..
  • Pixel 5 has been announced as a 5G-ready phone by Google.
  • The Pixel 5G will be launched in October by Google.

After months of keeping mum on the Pixel 4a, Google has now not only launched the mid-range device but also announced the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones. Both the devices have been announced to launch later in October this year, with the company for now only sharing very little in terms of details about the devices.

Of the two, the Pixel 4a 5G will just be 5G variant of the device, while the Pixel 5 on the other hand, will feature much more impressive specs, and hardware as it would eventually be launched as the flagship offering from the company.

For now, Google has not revealed anything about the device, except for the fact that the Pixel 5 will come with support for 5G. The only real information the company has shared about the upcoming flagship is in the form of a promo image of the Pixel 5 and 4A 5G together. From the image, it is clear that the Pixel 5 will come in a black, glittery design with a similar-looking camera array as the Pixel 4a 5G. However, since the Pixel 4a gets a single-lens set-up, we expect the flagship 5G to improve on that and feature more lenses within the set-up.

There also remains no official word on this, but reports suggest that the Pixel 5 could finally launch with Android 11 out of the box. There is no clarity about other specifications about the device, but reports in the past have claimed the Pixel 5 could come with a Snapdragon 765G chipset. This is the same mid-range chipset we've seen on the OnePlus Nord recently. However, the Pixel 5 isn't expected to retail quite at the same price point as the affordable OnePlus phone.

The Pixel 5 is also expected to get a fast display, especially because last year's Pixel 4 came with a 90Hz display. Other than this, there is also expected to be support for wireless charging and some form of water-resistance with the design.

Google has also not announced any pricing detail about the device. However, considering that it's is a flagship device, it is expected to be pricier than both the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4a 5G. For context, these two have been announced at a price of $349 and $499 respectively.

There is also no guarantee that the Pixel 5 or even the Pixel 4a 5G will eventually make its way to India later this year. For now, the company has only announced an October sale date for the Pixel 4a in India. But initial signs don't look too promising, with the company already revealing through its blogpost that both Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 will be available in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia later this year. However, it is to be noted that this is the list of countries for the initial sale of the device and that India could be included in the list at a later date.
