- Google is set to make some interesting Android related announcements at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event
- The Galaxy Unpacked event is set to take place on February 12
- The company is also expected to launch the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Flip series of phones at the event
Samsung's Unpacked event has been penned in for February 12, and it appears it's not only Samsung fanboys that are excited about the event. In fact, the event has received a dose of hype from an unlikely source, Google.
Yesterday, the official Twitter handle of Android tweeted a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked teaser video, claiming that something exciting is just around the corner. This is quite surprising as Android's official Twitter handle very rarely teases launch events from third party manufacturers.
While there is no clarity on what changed, it is interesting to see Google hinting at something interesting for the event. Reports suggest that the big announcement that Google is set to make at Unpacked 2020 could be about Google Duo video chat support being integrated into the phone's messaging application.
A suggestion to this have also been seen in previous leaks, which claim that Samsung and Google are working to integrate Google Duo into the native messaging app. Although the feature could initially only be made available to users in Korea, there is a suggestion it will later be launched across the globe.
If not Google Duo, the tweet could also be a way for Android to show support for Samsung's upcoming foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip. The phone could be a good way for Android to show off built-in support for foldable technology and what it could bring with it in the future.
There are suggestions that Google could be working with Samsung on stock Android phones. However, it's unlikely as we haven't heard about the same from any credible source till now. Additionally, this would come as quite surprising considering that Samsung's been working hard on improving its One UI.
While all of this remains in the realm of speculation, what is known for sure is that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S20 series of smartphones at its Unpacked event on February 12. The launch event is set to take place in San Francisco, where the phone maker is set to launch three new flagship S series smartphones, along with a new foldable Galaxy Z Flip device.
The Galaxy S20 series is being tipped to bring with itself several new industry firsts, with one of the phones from the series even bringing a mammoth 108-megapixel camera and 16GB of RAM under the hood. This will be the Galaxy S20 Ultra which could be made available with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB internal storage options. Here's what we can expect from the upcoming flagship.
