The photo-sharing app Instagram is reportedly working on a lot of important features. As per reports, Instagram is working on a new feature called video note for its standalone messaging app Threads that will convert the audio in the videos to live captions. Apart from this, the messaging app might also get a sound for its Direct Messages.
As per mobile developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram is working on features that would be highly beneficial for people with hearing disabilities. The video note that Instagram is reportedly working on will turn the audio in a video into live captions, which means that the users will be able to read out whatever will be said in the video.
"Instagram is working on a new feature for the Threads app: video note. This feature will turn the audio of the video into live captions that will be shown in time with the recording," Paluzzi wrote on Twitter. The feature would help the Thread users on Instagram understand what their friends are saying and it would also help them respond clearly. For the unversed, Threads allows users to send photos, videos, and messages with their close friends' list. The app allows cameras to add shortcuts and you can also send a picture of whatever you are doing in just two taps.
"You are in control of who can reach you on Threads, and you can customize the experience around the people who matter most," said Robby Stein, Director of Product, Instagram said in a statement.
Apart from this, Paluzzi reports that Instagram is also working to add a sound to Direct Messages. The screenshot shared by the tipster shows that you can select a sound that would ring everytime you receive a DM on Instagram. Currently, you have the default Instagram tone on Instagram whenever you receive a message but with the latest developments, you will have a bird, bubbles, coconut, gem and spaceship sounds to choose from. You can change the sound as per preferences by going to the chat settings and from there you can tap on message sound to make changes.
It is important to note that the features are currently being tested and Instagram hasn't rolled them out officially. There are several other features that the photo-sharing app is working on and it will be rolled out once the testing phase is over.
