- The all-new iOS 14.4 beta 2 isn't a very major release.
- The new beta brings minor upgrades.
- Two major areas that see improvement are Find My app and HomePod mini handoff experience.
Apple has released the second developer beta of iOS 14.4 update, which is expected to be rolled out to the public in the coming weeks. The new beta update comes weeks after the first beta update of iOS 14.4 and here's what is new in the latest release.
One big change spotted in the latest beta is the new splash screen that appears for the Find My app which hints that the company may be enhancing support for some third-party accessories. The update also improves notifications for friends and family and the Find My Network which can now help you locate lost items even when not connected to any network (including Wi-Fi). The update also adds Belkin SoundForm Freedom True Wireless earbuds support in the Find My App. The earbuds were showcased at the ongoing CES 2021.
Many reports claim that the My Find app's enhancements hint at the possible launch of AirTags, which has been rumoured for a long time.
Another change in the latest beta is the improvements to the HomePod mini handoff experience. Notably, the first beta also brought some upgrades to the handoff experience, though, the current beta makes it even more smooth. Most importantly, the new beta update activates the U1-based proximity features of the HomePod mini.
