Olive Telecom has been working on an Android smartphone for quite some time now. Finally, the company plans to take the wraps off this phone in the coming week.

Rumoured to be operating on the latest version of the operating system, Android v2.3 aka Gingerbread, it is expected to compete against HTC Desire that operates on Android v2.2. As per the invite shared for the press conference scheduled for 9th February 2011, this will be India's first HSPA+ smartphone.

The HSPA+ network launched by Tata DoCoMo last year can offer theoretical download speed of 21mbits. The invite also indicates that Olive Telecom might be planning to launch this phone in an exclusive tie-up with Aircel. In the past as well, Aircel has tied up with handset manufacturers such as INQ Mobile and Huawei.
