Leica has already released two new cameras in the year 2020 -the Leica M10 Monochrom and the Leica M10-R. The German imaging brand is rumoured to launch Leica Q2 Monochrom camera next. The Q2 Monochrom camera model is expected to be in the nature of Leica M10 Monochrom which means that the camera will click only black and white pictures.

Now, as per latest reports, the company may announce Leica SL2-S as well in a couple of months. The rumoured Leica SL2-S could be the successor of Leica SL2 which was launched almost a year ago in November, 2019.

When Leica SL2 was unveiled by the company, many users said that the company copied the spec sheet of Panasonic S1R. Features such as a 47-megapixel sensor, max burst of 20fps, 4K/60p and fullHD 180p video recording capabilities were borrowed from the S1R camera model for Leica SL2.

This time, it is suspected that Leica may take away a few features from the latest Panasonic Lumix S5. As Digital Camera World notes, Leica has a history of rebadging Panasonic cameras. For instance, Leica V-Lux 5 looks similar to Panasonic FZ1000 with a red dot on the front, and Leica D-Lux 7 looks like Panasonic LX100 II.

While it is still a theory and nothing comes as an official statement, we expect Leica SL2-S to be a compact camera to keep up with the on-going trends. Currently, most of the camera makers are opting for lightweight cameras in order to attract the attention of digital content creators.
