Earlier this week, Xiaomi introduced its first flagship for the year, the Mi 11. The phone came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and a powerful camera setup in the back. The Mi 11 also boasts of a curved display with a punch-hole design.
However, as it turns out the display isn't just pretty. As per DisplayMate, the phone comes with a panel that sets a high standard for display technology. According to the benchmarking website, the panel on the device is an excellent one and has scored an A+ rating in its review, which's the highest in its ranking system.
The publication claims the handset earned a Very Good or higher rating in almost every test performed. DisplayMate claims the Mi 11's panel has close to perfect calibration when running in sRGB or DCI-P3 models. There's also perfect 100% coverage of those color gamuts in the respective modes.
During its benchmarking, the Mi 11 panel is quite bright and can reach reach up to 996 nits at 100% Average Pixel Level. It claims that the display has excellent legibility even in bright ambient light thanks to the low reflectivity provided by the display.
Talking about the phone, the Mi 11 comes with a 6.81-inch OLED screen with support for QHD+ resolution (3,200 x 1,440). In line with the phone's premium nature, the device's display can also refresh at 120Hz and supports 240Hz touch response rate. The panel has also been announced to reach a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. Xiaomi has announced that the display will be protected using a sheet of Gorilla Glass Victus.
As Xiaomi had announced at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020, the new Xiaomi phone comes with the Snapdragon 888 SoC. The company had previously revealed the Mi 11's benchmark scores which had shown the Mi 11 is clocking a single-core score of 1,135 while the multi-core score is 3,818.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 comes with a 108-megapixel main camera (f/1.85, 1/1.33 inch sensor size, 0.8 micron pixels, OIS) sat next to a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.4, 123 degree), and a 5-megapixel telephoto macro sensor (f/2.4). The Mi 11 also packs 8K recording and a night video mode for brighter low light video.
As for the software, the new Xioami phone will be the first to be equipped with the MIUI 12.5 update which will bring with itself new super wallpaper and 125 nature-inspired system notification sounds derived from animals. Interestingly, this update also goes big on several privacy features such as smart clipboard privacy protection to prevent unauthorized apps from accessing your clipboard.
