The company had teased the new smartphone on the Chinese alternative of Twitter, Weibo, where it revealed the new chipset and device. Qualcomm had launched Snapdragon 870 on Tuesday.
Talking about the new chipset, Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, said, "Building upon the success of Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus, the new Snapdragon 870 was designed to address OEM and mobile industry requirements. Snapdragon 870 will power a selection of flagship devices from key customers including Motorola, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi."

Motorola has been long rumored to be working on a phone with the new Snapdragon Qualcomm SoC. Earlier, it was expected that the Motorola phone in the making would feature the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, Motorola has now confirmed the chipset.
Earlier, a phone codenamed Motorola Nio was speculated to be the next flagship device the company has been working on. The Motorola Nio that has been surfacing on the internet repeatedly could be the type Moto Edge S. The smartphone had appeared on FCC and 3C certification websites. The certifications had revealed that the Nio could be a 5G Phone with a 20W fast charger.
The smartphone had also appeared on Geekbench previously. The geekbench listing had revealed that the Motorola Nio could come with 8GB of RAM and run on Android 11 out of the box. In terms of battery, it could come with a 5000mAh battery as per TUV Rheinland certification. Motorola Nio had scored 958 on the single-core test and 2969 on the multi-core test. The higher the score, the better as it determines the capability of the processor. The listing had appeared on December 29, 2020. The rumors are strong that the smartphone could be launched in the first half of 2021.
Coming to the specifications, the Nio is rumored to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a rather unusual refresh rate of 105Hz. In terms of camera, it could come with a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there could dual-lens 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel lens for selfies.
